Grandma’s Bizarre Cooking?
I was watching Bizarre Foods with Andrew Zimmerman when he was at a NYC delicatessen, Carnegie Deli, eating some traditional kosher foods that my grandmother used to make. I thought it was funny that some of these foods that I was brought up on made it on Andrew’s show.
Grandma taught me how to make; Chicken Noodle Soup or Grandma’s Penicillin we called it, Matzo Brie - a great breakfast omelet made from eggs and matzo, Matzo Ball Soup, and Chopped Liver. The Gefilte Fish and Chopped Liver made it on the Bizarre Foods episode - that’s ok, I’m not offended
hope you aren’t either. My sister came across this great cookbook that documents my culinary heritage very well, it’s from a top rated NYC delicatessen, a must have - The Second Ave Deli. Maybe one day i’ll share my Grandmother’s recipes, until then, they’re all secrets!
